And hello new hotness.
It’s a 98 Altima GXE. Cheap, high mileage (211k) but well maintained, cheap, clean title, 5spd, cheap and takes regular gas (cheap).

At least you have a hardtop for winter now!

nice - we rented a teal one of those during our honeymoon. Took it up to Tahoe from Reno.

I have never hated a car more than that generation Altima
My brother had a beige on beige auto 98 and it was truly soul sucking to drive

But was it cheap?

I’d heard those gen of Altima were not bad cars. A friend had one of the following generation and the engine was bulletproof....I also remember the brakes being EXTREMELY touchy...

I remember when these came out, Nissan marketer them as the first cheap luxury car. My buddy had one — he was still a junior in college, but had signed on with the Navy to go work as a nuke engineer afterwards. In exchange, they paid for his last two years of school and gave him a hefty stipend to finish school (then his ass belonged to them for 8 years). Only guy I ever knew who bought a brand new car in college. And it was like $25k...unheard of, at least among our friends.

Now you've got something to rallycross again :)

It’s black on grey. It’s not fun. But the manual is engaging enough. Plus the flex pipe needs to be repaired so it’s basically a race car.

It was.

the manual would definitely help, as would a noisy exhaust
how rusty is yours?

Some on the bottom of the doors. Not bad at all.

exact opposite of his, his doors were fine but the rockers and fenders were all bad

The manuals on these may be somewhat fragile. My mom had one and went through 3 clutches and a mater cylinder in 90k before selling it a few years ago. Just anrecdotal but could be worth keeping an eye on. Overall I really liked it. Decent fun to drive for an FWD sedan . Surprisingly poor fuel eco nomy, but overall running costs were low besides the transmission.

I like it. Lately I’ve been spending too much time thinking about cross country road trips in cheap cars like that. My main requirements are cheap, mechanically sound, and for sale far away from here. This looks like it would definitely fit the bill.

gotta love the cheap manual beaters. I have a 95 Corolla manual with 244,000 on it. Love it cause its expendable

SIIIIIIIIIICK you found a manual
You can make those fast for, like, no money. Well, slow-car-fast.
Also, learn to assist panic stops by using the handbrake because damn.

I just read the title, perhaps not haha. It has the weight distribution of a hammer, for starters.
